Chapter One: Knowledge

"So I'm possessed?" you ask your psychiatrist.

"No! I am a man of science. I don't believe in the supernatural." your psychiatrist asserts.

"But you said that there is a being inside of my mind that's trying to take over my body!" you exclaim.

"I'm not talking about a ghost. I am talking about a complex." your psychiatrist sighs.

"A complex?" you ask while scratching your head.

"A complex is an autonomous part of the mind. Everyone has complexes that live in and manipulate their dreams." explains your psychiatrist.

"Why is my complex trying to take over my body?! How is that even possible?!" you ask.

"All complexes possess psychic energy. The more psychic energy a complex possesses, the more control it gains over the mind. Your sense of self, the part of your mind you identify as, is a complex." explains your psychiatrist.

You interrupt your psychiatrist and exclaim "I'm a complex! That's crazy, so the only difference between me and my complexes is my psychic energy!"

Your psychiatrist responds "Yes, everyone's ego is a complex. Recently during our therapy sessions you've reported some strange and compulsive behavior. I believe that one of your complexes has started building up psychic energy and has already started manipulating your mind. Soon your complex will overpower you and your ego will be trapped in the dream world!"

You shudder and ask "Doc, how long do I have before my complex takes over?"

Your psychiatrist takes a deep breath and solemnly says "If you don't gain more psychic energy soon, tomorrow morning you'll still be trapped in the world of dreams!"

Chapter Two: Training

After your ominous therapy session, you decide that you are going to do everything in your power to build up psychic energy in order to fight off your complex.

You spend hours meditating, visualizing psychic power channeling into your body from across the cosmos.

You read books on lucid dreaming so that you can learn how to control your dreams and hopefully use them to fight back against your complex.

You purchase crystals from a local magick shop that the owner says can attune to and advance your psychic ability.

Chapter Three: Revelation

During a long, relaxing, crystal meditation session you doze off and suddenly appear inside the marvelous world of dreams.

You are floating in a white void filled with a rainbow kaleidoscope of light, and the serene sound of nature.

For a moment you feel at peace, until suddenly the void darkens and begins to flood with a torrent of blood.

The horrifying sight paralyzes you with fear as your complex rises from the waves like a dark god.

Its fleshy, grotesque body is full of spider-filled holes and covered in rotting stitches and oozing eyeballs!

Chapter Four: Pressure

Your complex snaps its twisted and deformed fingers, launching a barrage of man-eating, flying spiders out of its body's many orfices!

You try to dodge out of the way, but the flying spiders quickly ensnare you in an intricate web of doom!

Trapped in the nefarious net of your complex, its spiders begin tearing into your flesh and draining you of your psychic energy!

You try to use lucid dreaming techniques to escape by manipulating the dream world, but even with the assistance of your crystals and the hours you spent meditating, you still don't possess enough psychic energy to overpower your complex!

If you don't figure out something soon, you'll be completely drained of your psychic energy and lose control of your body forever!

Chapter Five: Adaptation

Your complex strikes a villainous, victory pose and laughs maniacally at your suffering.

As your mind races trying to come up with a new strategy, you suddenly stumble upon an idea that puts a smile on your face.

You begin to laugh, which startles, perplexes and silences the complex.

You say "You don't get it do you? You think you've trapped me inside of some hellish nightmare, but the real nightmare is something more terrifying than you could ever imagine."

Chapter Six: Who Will Win?

Your complex is shocked and intrigued by your words and beckons you to continue.

You elaborate "You've never been truly powerless. You not only live in the world of dreams, but you control it. Here you are a god so powerful that even I can't stop you! But out there in the real world, reality bends to no man's whim! You will be cursed to live in an unforgiving world completely outside of your control! In a world where you can die! You're really doing me a favor by letting me live the easy life in here, while you struggle to live a mundane life as a mortal!"

Your words shake your complex to its core as it panics!

Once again your complex snaps its fingers, commanding its spiders to use their fangs to inject their psychic energy back into your body!

Your complex begins sinking back into the tides of blood, and as it does you feel like your body is filled with more psychic energy than ever before!

The next day you wake up happily, in full control of your body, and ready for a new adventure.
